icon CONSOLATION OF ALL THE AFFLICTEDIcon of the Mother of God "Consolation of All the Afficted".

 

The icon has been highly venerated since 1688 when Patriarch Joachim's sister Euphimia, who lived in Moscow, was healed of an incurable disease.

 

She heard the Mother of God ordering her to go to the Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour in Ordynka and celebrate a moleben before Her icon "Consolation of All the Afflicted".

 

A Feast day was established on October 24 (November 6) to commemorate the miraculous healing.
